Morning folks...what a weekend that turned out to be...after living in the far north of this little island for six decades you would think that I would have sussed out the vagaries of the British weather by now...I left home...blue skies and sunshine...bright and early on Saturday morning dressed in a short sleeved top and thin cardie with no back up plan clothing and little did we know as we crossed the Forth Road Bridge that we were heading for an Arctic Adventure...
A tad chilly doesn't even come close to describing the Edinburgh temperatures...it was BALTIC with a capital B...blowing an Arctic hooley...crikey even the goosepimples had goosepimples and the first coffee stop...a teeth chattering huddle in a draughty catering tent...did absolutely nothing to up the body temperature...there was only one thing for it...head to the nearest outdoor clothing stand to buy a jacket...I wasn't alone either...they were doing a roaring "I can't believe how cold it is" trade. Turning blue by the minute and fearing the onset of hypothermia...we headed indoors...
to admire all the gorgeous blooms...
and the fabulous veggie displays...
but my favourite was definitely the Bonsai exhibits...

and at this point the camera battery died so no more "bore you to tears" Garden Scotland pics and hey it could have been worse...at least we didn't have to contend with snow or torrential rain.
But I'm now back in the toasty warm cubbyhole...isn't "on-tap" central heating wonderful...yes can you believe it's really June...time to have some fun with Timmie's June Tag for

ReplyDeleteSorry it turned out so cold for you Kath, unusual for down the road to be colder than up here. Your photos are lovely,the colours are stunning. The bonsais are facinating, I always fancied trying to grow one but thought I wouldn't manage to keep it tiny. Lots of patience needed there. It's nice to get away, but even better to get back home again.
ReplyDeleteI think the weather was cold everywhere yesterday Kath. I felt so sorry for the Queen - she looked frozen! She chose not to sit on her velvety seat but to stand behind it to shelter from the wind. Good to see the weather didn't put you and your pals off from having a good time.

ReplyDeleteGreat photos Kath, shame about the weather. We sat huddled watching the flotilla on the Thames and eventually gave in and put the heating back on! Great British weather....nice that you had a good time though - and have a new coat too.......Ax

Hi kath was in Scotland too and we went over the Forth bridge too and was tad chilly but was well prepared for it, bit unfair when start in brill sunshine! Thanks for the pickies are really awesome thanks for sharing! Shaz in Oz.x

ReplyDeleteI agree, Kath, it was baltic here on saurtday. We went to Perth for the day swimming and it wasn't much warmer there until about half 2 when it brightened up slightly. Glad you enjoyed the show though x
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a fab time - I remember my first visit to bonny Scotland back in 1986 - it was July and I packed shorts, t-shirts, sundresses etc and took a lightweight denim jacket. Day one was shopping for jumpers, jeans and a waterproof!!
