It's Hogmanay

Morning folks...after all the Christmas hullabaloo I've kind of lost track of the days which is not an unusual occurrence in my world...working from home I often have to stop and ponder which day of the week it is but even I know it's the last day of December...the last day of 2012...yes it's New Year's Eve or in my neck of the woods Hogmanay...at the stroke of midnight it will be time to say goodbye to the old year and look forward to 2013.
I think I'll be welcoming in the New Year in the company of an unwelcome first footer... the dreaded cold is back...the fuzzy head and sneezing for Scotland which at my age presents added complications in the bladder department are a dead give-away...a present that definitely wasn't on my Christmas List. You know what they say "feed a cold...starve a fever" and although the body computer is already hitting meltdown with the recent food intake levels...I'll give it my best shot...no way am I missing out on the big end of the year traditions in this house...Hogmanay Steak Pie and New Year's Day Roast Beef Dinners...if only I could resist all the trimmings but I just can't say NO when it comes to Oatmeal Stuffing and Yorkie Puds...not forgetting the ladelfuls of Onion Gravy...YUMMY
But today's going to be a cosy jammie day...a great excuse to dodge that old age Hogmanay tradition of cleaning the house from top to bottom...can't really see the point...dust is dust and who cares which year it took up residence...instead I'll be chilling out on the sofa sorting out the 2013 calendar...transferring all the birthdays from one year's calendar to the next.
And then we come to another bonkers tradition that I won't be taking part in...the New Year Resolutions...to be honest there is absolutely no point in me even attempting to go down that road...over the years I've had to admit that willpower is not one of my talents and the lack of same has my stomach already groaning at the thought of more days of feasting.
We'll be back at midnight to raise a glass and ring in the New Year with you all

Back To The Crafty Job

Morning folks...Well Christmas has come and gone once again and 3 days of the stuffing my face with food and lounging around watching TV routine has taken it's toll...with all the Christmas celebrations our daily doggy strolls have been shorter than normal so no surprise then that I'm feeling like a lump of lard...drastic measures are required...time to hit the cubbyhole and get back to the day job.
The crafty list is a-calling and with deadlines looming it's time to chivvy up the cubbyhole crew and get creative with this pile of goodies...I'm loving the "Dots and Stripes Neapolitan" Collection from Echo Park...here's hoping that Mr Mojo does too...
And in a few days' time we'll be celebrating a brand new year so I need to get a wiggle on and make a start on the Fiskars Samples Marathon for the trade show at The NEC in February...the holidays are over folks and it's back to the normal hamster on a wheel routine for the cubbyhole crew but hey it keeps me away from the tempting nibbles and I can hardly call it work when all I'm doing really is spending my days playing with fabulous crafty toys.
I'll be back tomorrow to share what has become a bit of a cubbyhole tradition...

Now there's a surprise

Hi Everyone...I hope you all had a lovely Christmas with family and friends...that Santa popped by with all the things on your wish list and that you didn't gorge yourselves silly like me...I'm still feeling a bit like a beached whale...now there's a surprise...all my intentions of being sensible when it comes to eating flew out the window AGAIN...stuffing myself until I was fit to burst meant that hubby was on dishwasher duty and I was flat out on the sofa swearing that I couldn't possibly eat another thing but it didn't take long for the cheese and biscuits to start calling my name followed by those tempting chocs under the tree...well I definitely needed a chocolate hit to counteract the shock of that Dowtown Abbey ending...I bet you didn't see that coming either. And then there's Boxing Day...the time of year when the fridge is still groaning under the weight of all that "just in case" Christmas food purchases and you can't help yourself from trying to make a big dent in it resulting in another night of couch slobbiness...perhaps I should have joined the throng of folks queueing from 4.00am for the Boxing Day Sales...I don't think so...is there no end to greedy mad commercialism and even before we welcome in a new year...they're stocking up with the shelves with Easter Eggs..I feel a little rant coming on but luckily for you I'm on food prep duty this morning for yet another day of feasting with the grandkiddies.
But first I'm off to unpack a surprise delivery...woohoo was I super duper excited when Mr Fedex arrived at the door with a special Christmas Present from "Santa Fiskars Claus"...
I wonder what it could be...something that will tempt me away from Christmas Cake and the like...something that will curb the urge to be constantly grazing...something that will kick start the nibbling willpower...I do hope so because if not...I'm going to end up with a spare tyre that wouldn't look amiss on a 4 x 4 on top of the one I've already got.
And if you would like to win this gorgeous selection of lace....
why don't pop over and visit The Ribbon Girls
I'll see you all tomorrow

Crafts Beautiful Christmas Gifts...

Hi folks...crikey the weather is horrendous...is this rain ever going to stop...perhaps we should forget about all the Christmas prep and start building an ark...I feel heart sorry for anyone who's Christmas has been ruined because their house is flooded...what a nightmare...take care if you are travelling over Christmas...hitting deep water at speed can have horrendous consequences...so please be safe.
OK time to share the Christmas Gifts I made for Sizzix and the Crafts Beautiful Newsletter...the brief was to make Christmas Gifts using Sizzix dies in Christmas colours but not with a Christmas theme if you get my drift.  I loved this recycled felt bag that I found in Hobbycraft reduced in the sale and going for a song...wish now I'd bought one for myself...

a fabric and felt cushion...

and a cute owl keyring...perhaps I should make one for myself because I am always rooting around in the depths of my handbag looking for my house keys...
Can you believe tomorrow's Christmas Eve
