Woof...woof...

It's a great big woof woof from me...I'm sorry I've haven't been on the blog for a while...to be honest my crafty old Mum and your favourite bundle of golden deliciousness have had a bit of a tough time lately...all because of a pesky little pimple they found on my leg.  My old pal Mark (the vet) took one look at it and hey presto before I had a chance to turn and hightail it out of there...I was booked in for surgery the very next day and he was right...it was a nasty piece of work...a Mast Cell Tumour...yes that scary Big "C" word and this all happened the night before my old Mum was due to hop on the train to Sheffield. Talk about throwing a spanner in the works and everything up in the air...there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth (not from me I hasten to add) but after lots of betwixt and betweening and reassurance that I would be in safe hands with Mark and Dad would cope with the nursemaid duties...we persuaded her to go.
What they didn't tell me was they would be going crazy with the razor again...baldy patches everywhere and that once they got me asleep the vet would be practicing his sewing skills on my leg...
nor did they happen to mention the pain in the ass headgear I had to wear day and night for 2 weeks...
the newly painted walls have taken a bit of a hammering and will require some major touch up's here and there due to my lack of spacial awareness...well if I knew what that was perhaps I could work on it. Of course I've been the perfect patient...doing what the doctor ordered and hey the stitches are out...the headgear is gone and I'm looking forward to being back to my usual bouncy hooligan self again.
On a serious note...there is a chance this nasty blighter could come back and catching it early is important so an all-over body check is now part of my daily routine...please don't dismiss any lump you find on your doggy chums...however small and innocent looking...get to your vet asap and get it checked out.
As if I haven't had enough to put up with...there's been whisperings that I'm going on a diet...apparently I'm obese...well what a blinking cheek and how rude...I will admit to being slightly CHUNKY but there's no need to be offensive and use the "O" word. The thought of being on half rations doesn't bear thinking about and I may well be popping over to your In-boxes with urgent appeals for food parcels if fluttering my big brown eyelashes doesn't work.
But now for some happy news...my old Mum is home this weekend for the first time in ages so we're off out for a "spending some time together" kind of a day...I'll be chasing rabbits and rushing around sniffing while the old Crafty Girl brings up the rear.
See you all soon...in the meantime Big Hugs & Snuggles
BUDDY xxx

Such a relief that you have come through this dreadful time and are OK now - I know first hand how upset your lovely Mum was about you at Sheffield. My heart went out to you both - but onwards and forwards now.... So good that you and Mum have some quality time this weekend. Take good care of each other. Big sloppy hugs, Anne x

PS - sadly, I am joining you in the diet stakes....I feel your pain!

Thank goodness your vet was on the ball and quick Kath. Have they graded the tumour? MCTs are very common in my breed :-(

Kath, my heart goes out to you we have been there with our old lab, you just have to check out all the lumps and bumps asp as you have said. Hazel

Buddy I know the feeling of being told you are over weight my vet told my mum and dad the same, but I don't eat that much I am just a big lab, but mum and dad keep me on the measure of food the vet told them, I don't mind as long as I get fed, walked and loved as they are all just worried about me. ((((Hugs)))). Harris

Big hugs to you Buddy, it is so true that it's important to check out lumps- my last golden retriever (Tio) had 1 on his leg too, something called tricho-lemoma, but really it was the c word! We believe we caught t in time but who knows cos we lost him some years later to a ruptured tumour on his spleen :-(. Keep up the checks & now that you are fit n well you can run around in the woods so hopefully the diet will not have to be too severe! Keep your mum cheery as we love to read both your & her adventures....

Hugs sally

Poor Buddy - but I know what you've been through as my mum took me to the v.e.t.....this week too, guess what??Yup, shaved leg, and the horsey looking 'lady' stuck needle into me & drained out blood, as if that wasn't bad enough she put her hand up my bottom & squeezed my belly too......It surely is a Dogs life Buddy :(
Hope you're better soon as your mummy & mine are off on Crafty Adventures with Finn next month!! Hugs to Buddy & Kath from,

Hi Buddy, you are so fortunate to have such a loving caring Mum looking out for you every day, I wish all pet owners would be the same. So glad Mum went ahead with her trip to Sheffield, it gave Dad a chance to bond with you and practice his nursing skills. Hopefully you have been enjoying the glorious weather today with a nice long walk with Mum...Trish

I'm getting very good at being their chef...and they are getting very good at being spoiled! Hugs to all of you.....

Very sorry to hear how worried you have been about your lovely Buddy,I am glad his op went well and that he doesn't seem too bothered about it all-bless him.My own Greyhound girl has been very poorly with Meningitis and it has been a very worrying time for me too-thankfully she is recovering now-although she has lost so much weight I am having to build her up,perhaps she could get together with Buddy and he could help her a bit put it on,and she could help him take it off-bless them both :)
