Things that go bump in the night...

Hi folks...it's Friday...the end of another week and hey can you credit it...the last day of September already. It's a scary thought that tomorrow will be October and that Christmas is only 12 weeks away...87 days to be precise. Summer is definitely over...the weather has turned chilly and for the last two days and nights it's being blowing a severe hooley here...it's hard to get a good night's sleep when you have visions of waking up staring at the sky and wondering where the roof has gone. And while we're on the subject of scary...I was rudely awakened at pitch dark o'clock last night by a noise and the Furry Boy had heard it too...he was frantic...throwing himself on and off the bed like a whirling dervish...standing at the bedroom door growling with teeth bared...he's never ever done this before so time to pull on my big girl knickers and go investigate the things that go bump in the night...spooky goings on or worse case scenario...burglars...
Accompanied by my "sending shivers down my spine" still growling companion which didn't exactly settle my nerves I gingerly made my way through the kitchen to check the back door...nothing untoward there...through to our little den...the patio doors are safely locked but hold on a second...the outdoor security lights are on...crikey any minute now I was expecting to come face to face with a prowler but then I spotted the metal clothes pole lying against the patio doors...obviously it had blown across the garden and hit the glass with a bang...the "scared the living daylights out of the resident guard dog and his Mum" mystery is solved and I will admit I wasn't exactly happy about venturing out into the cold dark wind whistling night to put it somewhere safe...that hairs standing up on the back of your neck/waiting for a hand on your shoulder kind of feeling and where was my personal furry bodyguard in the meantime...having decided there was no intruder to sink his teeth into...he was back in bed and snoring his head off. Imagination is a wonderful thing but beware...it can play tricks with your mind...I'm blaming my current obsession with all things Halloween.
But today's a new day and there's nothing likely to cause nightmares about today's task...
a hot date with a pile of step-by-steps...
and a big roll of bubble wrap
Have a great weekend and I'll see you all on Monday for a brand new challenge over at Simon Says Stamp.

Here We Go Again...

Hi folks...the cubbyhole is back to being nice and tidy...a place for everything and everything in it's place...just the way I like it...
but not for long I suspect...today I'm planning on some Halloween playtime...having fun with all things spooky...

before I have to knuckle down tomorrow and do the step-by-steps for the Fiskars samples...they do say the job isn't done until the paperwork's completed so tomorrow will be one of those "big girl knickers and lots of coffee" kind of days.

Chaos In The Cubbyhole...

Hi everyone...the good news is...the Fiskars samples are finished and after today's photography session will be packed up and on their way to Fiskars HQ with a little help from Mr Parcelforce. I've had loads of  "out of my comfort zone" fun with the new products...
lots of  stitching...
 a little bit of quilting...
making scruffy flowers
decorating a canvas with fabric instead of paper...
making yo-yos...
can you guess what it is yet...
making fabric covered boxes and pin cushions...
and colouring over a hundred pearls with alcohol ink...
made super quick and easy thanks to Tim's top tip...
place the pearls in a plastic cup...add a few drops of  Silver Mixative...
cover and shake...voila beautiful shimmery silver pearls...
the sewing machine has worked his socks off and deserves a well earned rest...the ironing board is back where it belongs but before we can enjoy some papercrafting playtime...a major tidy up is required in the "looks like a bomb has landed-fabric everywhere" cubbyhole and let me tell you...Mr Dyson Jnr is not going to be best pleased at the  floor strewn with threads instead of the paper debris he's used to.
Best foot forward is our motto...the kettle is on and the cleaning crew are going in.

Powder Power

Hi Everyone...it's Monday and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's "Inspired By Music" challenge...we hope you can join us this week too...

and the theme for this week is...
POWDER POWER
using Embossing or Pigment Powders
I decorated a canvas panel with PaperArtsy Infusions and Ranger's Super Fine Embossing Powders
PaperArtsy Infusions are little bottles of magic powder that react in wonderful ways when they come into contact with water or any other wet medium and a little goes a long way. I sprinkled "A Bit Jaded" on to the canvas...brushed out with a wet brush...spritzed with water and let them run around until I was happy with the coverage.
Once it was dry I stamped one of my favourite Hero Arts Cling Stamps...an oldie but still a goodie...with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Super Fine White Embossing Powder.
I stamped the sentiment from Tim Holtz "Way With Words" stamp set on to Plain Tissue Wrap with Black Archival Ink and heat set with Ranger Super Fine Clear Embossing Powder...
trimmed around the edge...fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte and stamped Ledger Script with Black Archival randomly around the canvas. I stamped Tim Holtz Halftone and Rings Stamp Set with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder...Simon Says Stamp Lots of Dots with Black Archival and highlighted the sentiment with a Signo Uniball White Pen.
I sprinkled Prima flowers with "Are You Cerise" and "Limoncello" Infusions and spritzed with water.
fixed to the canvas along with Idea-ology Photobooth images
and Tim Holtz/Sizzix Heartfelt hearts die cut from scraps of card coloured with "Are You Cerise"
an Idea-ology Game Spinner coloured with Brushed Pewter Distress Paint and Prima "The Archivist" Stickers...
an Idea-ology Typed Token and a twine bow...
