I fell in love with the Henna Patterns Stamp Set
and decided to make an art journal page in my Dylusions Journal. I love hot and spicy colours in my flower garden...very reminiscent of the glorious vibrant colours of exotic eastern spices...
I started off by applying Pumice Stone Distress Paint directly on to the pages and swirling it around with a slightly moist baby wipe...then I used Distress Collage Medium Matte to fix down torn scraps of Prima Salvage District papers left over from another project...it was just a co-incidence that the papers I used tone in with the background but it doesn't matter because only faint impressions of the papers will show on the finished project. I then gave the pages an all over coat of Distress Collage Medium Matte which seals everything down and makes the surface slick...ready for some Distress Crayon colouring...
I scribbled all over with Rusty Hinge...Peeled Paint and Fossilized Amber Distress Crayons from Set and swiped gently with a moist baby wipe to move them around and blend...OK I know at this moment in time it looks like a right dog's dinner but bear with me...
it's amazing how a light coat of Gesso applied with a scraper tones everything down a notch...remember I'm just laying down a background at this stage and there are going to be lots of stamped layers on top so I'm not hitting the panic button just yet...
I applied Rusty Hinge Distress Crayon through the Lattice Work Mini Layering Stencil from Set 4 and stamped one of the images from the Henna Patterns Stamp Set in Leaf Green and Black Archival...
I stamped the small circle and leaf with Versamark and heat embossed using White and Gold Detail Embossing Powders...
added Design Tape...splattered with Tarnished Brass Distress Spray Stain...Dylusions White Linen and a very fine mist of Distress Antique Bronze Mica Spray and voila...it's beginning to look like I imagined...
I stamped the flowers and leaves with Potting Soil Archival Ink...heat embossed with Clear Detail embossing powder and cut out...
coloured with the same Distress Crayons I used on the background and added white highlights with my new favourite...the fabulous white paint pen from Dylusions...
finishing off with some alphabet stickers from my stash...
