Allsorts Challenge

Hi folks....yes two challenge cards in one day....things are definitely looking up crafty wise.
The challenge this week over at Allsorts is

AUTUMN DAYS
and yes there is definitely a chill in the air now in the mornings.....time to look out the winter cosies for our early morning strolls

Papers: Jilly Bean Soup 100% Recycled Kraft Paper
page torn from an old book
Image: Hero Arts...Scattered Leaves
Hero Arts Shadow Ink..Soft Apricot
Flowers: Jilly Bean Soup...Bean Seeds
Sentiment: American Crafts Foam Thickers
Tiny Text Alphabets
Button and twine from stash

And before I get lots of e-mails asking where I got my polka dot button...let me explain.....I buy hundreds of white buttons in all different sizes.....this one was coloured using Tim Holtz Paint Dabber....Peeled Paint and then the dots applied with Ranger Inkssentials White Opaque Pen.....to tie in with the dots on the stamped image.
Well that's it for today folks.....off to get the DT stuff done for this week....oh I know last minute again but will be back bright and early tomorrow with another fab challenge over at GET FUNKY.....hope you will be joining in the fun this month................Hugs Kath xxxxxxxx

Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Morning Folks...it's time for a little bit of a history lesson....you can't say this blog is all just crafty stuff....occasionally we have "The Budster" with his little bits of wisdom and sometimes we do the "educational" bit.....so fasten your seat belts folks.......
The challenge this week over at Daring Cardmakers is.......

TARTAN IT UP

Papers: Jilly Bean Soup 100% Recycled Kraft Paper
Crafthouse Press...Tartan
MME..Wild Asparagus Collection
Image: Hero Arts....Artistic Borders
Pink Petticoat...Tiny  Typed Alphas
Papermania Cardstock Alphabet Stickers
Ranger Inkssentials White Opaque Pen

and how could I resist playing along with this one...I am very proud of my Scottish heritage..and hey even "His Nibs" can trace his Scottish ancestry way back.....did you know that Golden Retrievers were originally bred in Scotland by Lord Tweedmouth in 1868... so what better way to show our patriotism than to dedicate a card to Scotland's National Anthem (some say not officially) but I think if you asked most Scots...they would say that O' Flower of Scotland is the one song guaranteed to stir the hearts and bring a tear to the eye of Scots all over the world.
Written by Roy Williamson of the Corries in 1967...it is sung at all Scottish weddings and celebrations.....much loved by rugby and football supporters and it doesn't matter how many times I hear it....it still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up....especially if it's played on the bagpipes.

 O' Flower of Scotland
When will we see
Your like again,
That fought and died for,
Your wee bit Hill and Glen,
And stood against him,
Proud Edward's Army,
And sent him homeward,
Tae think again.

The politically correct brigade have suggested that this song be banned because of it's racist connotations.....what absolute poppycock....it celebrates the victory of Robert The Bruce over King Edward's Army at Bannockburn in 1314......and let's face it folks we are not very successful with our national football and rugby sides.....so I am sure all the English folks out there will cut us a little bit of slack and let us crow over just this one little victory....695 years ago.....and if you haven't fallen asleep by now...
I would like to say a very big thank you to all my lovely bloggy buds for your lovely comments and support on my World Cardmaking Day debut....oh boy was I nervous....didn't know who else was going to be featured and was I delighted when I saw the lovely Rach....Andrea....Kim and my Hero Arts buddy... Lucy....and without being immodest.....I think we did the old UK proud.....thanks girls you rock !!!!!!
And it's all aboard for the next destination on our world wide blog hop.....will be back later with another challenge card....Hugs Kath xxxxxxx
Edited to add.....to answer Carol's question...yes it is the Royal Stewart Tartan.

Are you ready to blog hop !!!

Morning folks....as you probably know unless you are living on another planet.....October 3rd is WORLD CARDMAKING DAY when cardmakers from across the world come together to celebrate the wonderful hobby that we all share.....so are you going to be joining in the fun.
I got a very special invitation a few weeks back from this lovely lady....Cath Edvalson well she is bound to be real nice with a name like that....Creative Editor of Paper Crafts Magazine in the USA and host of the Moxie Fab Blog
"As part of our celebration, I will be hosting a “Countdown to World Card Making Day” blog event that will take place the week before World Card Making Day (WCMD). My focus will be to showcase card makers all over the world, such as yourself, to emphasize the connection that we all share as enthusiasts of such a warm and giving hobby.  Each day, I will highlight a different region of the world and I would love it if you would like to join me!"

I was literally speechless....truly gobsmacked to get such an invitation but very honoured to be representing this little old island of ours....we may be little and I may be a bit biased...but we are overflowing with mega talented cardmakers.....so the answer was YES.....but I must admit that once the shock subsided....the nerves kicked in....oh yes....I am a tad nervous....OK if the truth be told....a LOT NERVOUS....but absolutely thrilled to be joining so many cardmakers in celebrating this huge world wide event and I can't begin to imagine the work that has gone in to putting this all together so a big THANK YOU to Cath for the invitation.
Cardmakers from across the globe will be featured each day this week in a fun filled world blog hopping tour and it all kicks off today in Europe....so why not pop over to Moxie Fab World at 10.00 am (due to time difference) to get lots of inspiration....visit the participants....leave a comment and be in with a chance of winning fabulous prizes from some of our favourite craft companies.....and then join me TOMORROW when the tour hits the UK and Australia......and I will be sharing the card I made in the COUNTDOWN TO WORLD CARDMAKING DAY.
See you all tomorrow at 10.00am.

Carol's Sketch Fun 15

Morning folks...that's all the DT stuff done and dusted for another week but things are still ever so slightly manic at Chez Kath....hey what's new....I just seem to stumble from one crafty project to another... there are never enough hours in the day and no time to join in all the fabulous challenges I used to love... but you know what they say...ALL WORK AND NO PLAY....so yesterday instead of sitting out in the glorious sunshine.....I locked myself in the cubbyhole and had a little play.
And one challenge I certainly don't like to miss out on are the sketch challenges over at Carol's Sketch Fun....great sketches from my lovely Funky Hand teamie Carol every fortnight and with a great prize up for grabs......so if you haven't joined in the fun yet.....what are you waiting for.

I f you are reading this....Mr Blogger has been on his best behaviour and done as I asked him...I am off to the car boot sale this morning.....the car loaded up with the overspill crafty stash from the old cubbyhole.   Let's hope the weather holds up and there are lots of craft addicts with pennies to spend.
Will catch up with you all tomorrow....I have some very exciting news to share and this card could just be a little clue.

The challenge this week on Penny Black Saturday is a colour combo

CHOCOLATE...LEMON AND PINK

I must admit that my first thought on seeing this challenge was....."oh dear this ain't gonna work" but how wrong I was......loving this one and will definitely be using this combo again.   The background paper was a little plain so I pierced a grid pattern over it with that fab little gadget I got from my fab Funky Hand teamie En and my trusty old pokey tool.....my right hand man....definitely couldn't craft without him.
Cardstock:Bazzill
Papers: MME...Andrea Victoria Collection
Image: Penny Black "Keepsake"

Polkadoodle Challenge....19

Morning folks and it's time for another challenge over at  Polkadoodles.
The challenge this week is

DIGI COLOURING
to colour a Polly or Jack and use
any CD or download
Well would you believe that I have reached this age without ever having made a Halloween card
so I thought it was time to live dangerously and here goes......using Halloweenie Doodles Download

Cardstock Black
Papers & Images...Halloweenie Doodles Download
Ranger Glossy Accents
Art Institute Glitter
Ranger Inkssentials White Opaque Pen
Image coloured with watercolour pencils

I boldly decided to cut out the spider's web from one of the papers and by the time I had done that....run over it with a glue pen...scattered it with glitter and persuaded Mr Blogger to upload these three pics....believe me I have decided that "living dangerously" is far too hazardous an occupation at my age and am now off to lie down in a darkened room.....and no the spider hasn't been eating something he shouldn't have....it's just a bit of camera glare off the glossy accents.
Can't wait to see what you all create for this week's challenge.
Will catch up with you all tomorrow for another challenge over at Penny Black Saturday.

Just Quick Sneaky Peeks

Morning folks....well this is going to be a real quick boring sneaky post today.....would you believe nothing exciting has happened at Chez Kath this week .....so I have no earth shattering news to share....nobody has upset me....so nothing to rant about ....just been busy busy crafting..no time for crafty shopping either...so here you go just two little pics to keep you all guessing......

We did have a little bit of a lie-in this morning....it is so dark now in the morning...I  am missing my early morning cuppa outside with the birdies....even they seem to staying in bed a little longer....and when the time changes next month....I will be up and about for a few hours before it starts to get light....a sure sign that Autumn is upon us and then Winter will not be far behind.
Well that's it for today folks ......am already an hour or so behind....so must crack on.....catch up with you all tomorrow for another fab challenge over at Polkadoodles......Hugs Kath xxxxxx

Allsorts Challenge 19

Morning Folks.....time to share my card for this week's challenge over at Allsorts.....which is

SNOWFLAKES IN SEPTEMBER

Papers: Fancy Pants....Christmas Magic Collection
Snowflake: Cuttlebug Die
Images: Basic Grey...Itsy Bitsy Stamps....Granola Collection
Hero Arts: Snowflakes
Sentiment: Hero Arts
Snowflake Charms...button and silver cord from stash
Decoart Glamour Dust

Snowflakes are definitely one of my favourite Christmas Elements and I love this Cuttlebug Die.......I think it was definitely money well spent....I will be using it over and over again....probably until you are sick fed up of seeing it.     And I love to create my own background papers.....this is a gorgeous colour wash paper but I wanted to introduce the butterfly theme.....so stamped the butterfly image (second impression...for any of you starting out stampers....that means that you ink your stamp and stamp onto scrap paper and then without reinking......stamp the image onto the background paper....so creating a faded impression.....I didn't want it to be too bright and in your face...then stamped this gorgeous little snowflake image from Hero Arts...the journalling block and sentiment all with Tim Holtz Distress Ink....Aged Mahogany.  Finished off by giving the snowflakes a generous dusting of the old Glamour Dust.
Catch up with you all tomorrow for sneaky peek Thursday.
Hugs Kath xxxxxxx

MY WINNER

Morning everbody.....it's your favourite bundle of golden deliciousness and I am not a happy dog.......
You are all so lovely that I wanted to send each and everyone of you a little choccie parcel but "she who must be obeyed".....you know "Mrs Grumpy Knickers" ...said NO WAY.....honestly what a party pooper.   She said unless I get a job there is no chance of her financing my wild and wonderful ideas......well I could have got a very well paid and fun job and with my pedigree I would have been much in demand.... IF ONLY......she hadn't hoodwinked me into a visit to the VET and an appointment with the old scalpel....and I'm sure you know what I mean without going into the gory details.....so I just need to find something else I would be good at before I decide to give away some more candy.
Well enough of me blethering on about my missing bits.....it's time to put you all out of your misery......the winner of my yummy parcel of CHOCCIE DELIGHTS is.......

All you need to do is e-mail my Mum at kathinwesthill@btinternet.com and we will get your parcel whizzing off to you in the post and remember everything in moderation.......too much chocolate ain't good for your teeth or your waistline.    Must dash....it's time for my morning stroll.....catch up with you all soon.
BIG BLOGGY HUGS.......BUDDY xxxxxx

Simply Cards & Papercraft

Morning folks......I'm back to being busy busy ....(and I think Mr Mojo has taken pity on me and decided to help out) am working on a few things that I can't share with you yet but now that this month's issue of "Simply Cards and Papercraft" is in a newsagent near you....I can share the cards I made with the latest Christmas stamps from Woodware.   Now you know me...I am a real Hero Arts or Penny Black girl and was a bit unsure how I would get on with these cutsies......but I loved them....the detail on them is fantastic and they stamped beautifully with a Versamark Ink Pad.....and for the lucky ladies who won the stamps in my little give-away a few weeks ago...I will be sharing the cards I made for publication.....my favourite was "Santa's Wardrobe" but I couldn't bear to give that one away.

and "Elves Mischief"

Papers: My Minds Eye...Merry & Bright Collection
Images: Woodware...."Santa's Wardrobe"
"Elves Mischief"
Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads
Decoart...Glamour Dust

Will be back tomorrow to share some more cards made with "Christmas Pudding" stamps because Mr Blogger is having a bit of a strop...throwing his toys out the pram.....it's taken me an absolute age to upload these 5 pics.....so have it your own way you awkward sod....I am off to put the kettle on and have a nice cuppa...and then it's time for our morning stroll....the new rule at Chez Kath is...CHILL...CHILL...CHILL.
Will also be announcing our blog candy winners at some point tomorrow .....and believe me folks....the next time we are definitely using Mr Linky...well let's put it this way I will be announcing my winner.... can't say the same for "MR FURRY KNICKERS" ...the thing is he doesn't want to just choose one winner...because he loves you all....his last suggestion was we send everybody some candy.....blimey... he'd better look out the old piggy bank....start buying a lottery ticket or get himself some gainful employment.

It works everytime

Morning folks.....for those of you who pop across here regularly...you know that last week was a bit of a rollercoaster at Chez Kath.....the Fiskars thingy and Mr Mojo not pulling his weight...and if you know me personally....I DON'T DO NEGATIVE...well not for long.    And when push comes to shove.....none of these things are really important...it's not the end of the world...not life threatening.....just a tad annoying...a little hiccup in the scheme of things..so I think I'll survive...DON'T YOU.     We're heading for a brand new week so it's time to move on and ditch the sad face.   I decided to have some time away from the cubbyhole....up bright and early on Friday morning and the weather was glorious....Mr Sun definitely had his hat on.....so I set off in the car.... hadn't travelled very far and already the mood is lightening......I love where I live...could never contemplate living anywhere else and never tire of the gorgeous scenery right on my doorstep in this part of rural Aberdeenshire

and for those of you who live locally.....you probably know by now where I am heading
the road just leaving Millbank....oh yes I am on my way to Alford to visit Simply Create

and boy oh boy...did I pick the right day....Jacqui was busy unpacking some brand new stock.....so we blethered while I hovered....well it would have been so rude not to and I just couldn't resist these gorgeous gorgeous papers from Fancy Pants...Christmas Magic Collection....

and the Prima Sprites were just a perfect colour match....so I had to have some of them too along with some cute pom poms and white buttons........and did the retail therapy do the trick.....you bet it did.....I guarantee it works everytime.   Thankfully for my bank balance....I don't have to resort to this tactic too often but my other excuse for crafty stash shopping.....is one you can all relate to....I JUST WANT IT.
Catch up with you all tomorrow......I will be sharing some of the cards I made using the stamps from my
Little Christmas Give-Away....they are featured in this month's issue of Simply Cards & Papercraft.
And remember "The New Cubbyhole Candy" and "Buddy's Real Candy" close tonight at midnight GMT....so if you have entered yet....get on over there and get your name in the hat.
What am I doing today....well right now sitting at the 'puter in my tatty old cosy dressing gown having a cuppa but it's time to rouse "THE BEAST"...now that's Buddy not Hubby and set off for our morning stroll and today I am chilling out.....the sun shining so I may just spend the day pottering in the garden.
Hugs Kath xxxx
Edited to add.....I can't believe....another mad crafter living in Westhill that I don't know about.... Honey B.......send me an e-mail and perhaps you can come visit for a coffee and a crafty chat and no Bo Bunny Papers at Alford yet....that was what I was hoping to get....but hey another excuse to have another little trip.
To answer Judy's question.....NOOOO....I am not going to Melodee's class next Saturday and don't remind me please.....I am gutted but I have something else on and can't get out of it....believe me I've tried....hopefully we will meet up soon.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge...Week 67

Morning Folks and before you know it.... it's Saturday once again....I swear it comes round quicker and quicker every week and of course....Saturday means it's time to look out our Penny Blacks.......another fabulous response last week to Domi's beautiful sketch and gorgeous takes on the sketch from everyone.
The challenge this week on Penny Black Saturday is

LACE AND PEARLS
I immediately thought vintage and I know that this card looks absolutely nothing like the sneaky peek on Thursday...oops.....didn't like that one......so thought I would take the vintage theme and have a little play....give it a bit of a modern twist

Papers: Jillybean Soup 100% Recycled Kraft Paper
Image: Penny Black "Enjoy"
Sentiment: Brenda Pinnick Clear Sticker
Martha Stewart....Doiley Lace Edge Punch
Flowers & Buttons......Hero Arts
Lace & Twine from stash
Self Adhesive Pearls
And thank heavens that these cute little self adhesive pearls come in a strip.....because no way would I fancy trying to line them up individually.
We have another fabulous prize for one lucky winner this week and I apologise....because my photography does not do it justice at all
from Simply Create

October Afternoon Daydream Collection Papers
Matching Bazzill Cardstock
Alphas & Rub-ons
Can't wait to see what you all create this week with your lace and pearls....will be popping over to pay you all a visit.....and we have a little surprise for you over at Penny Black Saturday....yes we have decided to embrace the latest technology and will be using Mr Linky this week for the first time...fingers crossed I got it right.
As you can see I am still in this Kraft paper mode.....well a girl has to try anything to get the creative juices flowing again.....but I think I may just have found the cure.....pop on over tomorrow when I will tell all....in the meantime...happy crafting everyone.

Hugs Kath xxxxx
Edited to add......I have been getting lots of questions about the Kraft Paper....where did I get it.......I am using the unpatterned side of 12 x 12 Jillybean Soup Papers....the Black Bean Collection which I bought from Simply Create...who unfortunately don't have a website.... but when I did a little digging on the Internet....I found THIS.
