Simon Says...Food And/Or Drink...

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
FOOD AND/OR DRINK
so we want you to look out your crafty supplies and tantalise our taste buds with your creations

I dug out my Dylusions Art Journal to create a page dedicated to my passion for coffee and whether you prefer tea or coffee...a cuppa really is the best way to start the day...in fact I'm not really fully awake and firing on all cylinders until I've had cuppa number three so I decided to reflect the wake up properties of coffee with a BRIGHT COLOURFUL page...
I started by applying Grit Paste through the Splatters Layering Stencil and left it overnight to dry...it doesn't take that long to dry but it just so happened that the idea for this page popped into my head rather late in the afternoon...
I then applied Fossilized Amber, Peacock Feathers and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide inks to the page with the Mini Blending Tool...
dried with the heat tool, spritzed with water and continued adding colour until the colours had blended nicely and I was happy with the look. I then stamped the Coffee Rings from Darkroom Door Coffee Time with Walnut Stain Distress Oxide and the sentiment with Peacock Feathers.
I stamped the rings from Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Halftone and Rings with Fossilized Amber and one of the circles from Simon Says Lots of Dots with Versamark and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder.
I die cut the cups and tags from Distress Watercolor card using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Tea Time die, coloured with Distress Oxides and added details using one of the sentiments from Coffee Time and Mini Layering Stencils. I added shadowing to the edges using Walnut Stain Distress Oxide and tucked the cups into each other (I love how the die cuts the slits to enable you to do this) before fixing to the page.
I added more detail on the background using a Mini Layering Stencil and Walnut Stain Distress Oxide and fixed Label Letters in place...
I coloured the edges of the small tags from the Tea Time Die with Walnut Stain Distress Oxide, punched holes with the Cropadile and threaded with Eclectic Elements Thread. I poked a hole near the top of the cups with the craft pick to feed the thread through and fixed on the back of the page.
I coloured left over pieces of Distress Watercolor card with Candied Apple Distress Oxide ink and punched out the stars using Fiskars Lever Punches from my stash.
I coloured card with Candied Apple, Peacock Feathers and Fossilized Amber and die cut using Tim Holtz/ Sizzix Wordplay...die cut again from white card and layered to create a drop shadow. I finished off with some splatters of Black Soot Distress Paint and also used it to edge around the page.

Simon Says August Card Kit...

Hi folks...it's a dreary dreich morning here in Bonnie Scotland and I've completely given up trying to fathom out the weather...one minute it's gorgeous sunshine...the next it's chucking it down with rain and it's been so cold...cold enough for the cubbyhole crew to seriously consider snuggling under the duvet and going into hibernation.
But back to the crafty stuff and following on from yesterday's "way out of my comfort zone" watercolour makes...there's another disclaimer coming your way...clean and simple just isn't my style anymore...inky edge withdrawals spring to mind so I'm popping my head over the parapet and sharing the cards I made using the Simon Says Stamp August Card Kit "Together"...

but I have to confess I rather enjoyed this "pretty patterned papers and puffy stickers with a little bit of stamping" card making challenge...
and who knew that this obsessed distress fanatic and lover of all things Tim Holtz would find herself smitten by puffy stickers...

the card kit is still available and you can either purchase the complete kit HERE or the individual items contained in the kit HERE.

It's the weekend and I have a list of things to do...the usual household chores (boring)...the lawn needs a haircut (top priority) and then the cubbyhole crew will be settling down with a cuppa to continue sorting out this yummy bundle of Idea-ology spookiness...
and finishing off the labelling marathon with the help of my Furry Assistant...the one who has once again laid claim to the cosy rug whilst his creaky old Mum has to make do with the floor...

I'll see you all on Monday with my DT project for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge and you still have time to enter this week's challenge with the chance to win a $50 spending spree at Simon Says Stamp online store.
Toodle-oo for now
