I'm now a Journal Junkie...

Hi folks..if you're a regular visitor to this blog you'll know that I am one SERIOUS Tim Holtz Addict and most all of my crafty adventures involve the fabulous products he brings to market in conjunction with Stampers Anonymous, Ranger, Sizzix and Advantus but I think I may have found another addiction to add to that list because I've fallen in love with Eileen Hull's fabulous journal die...it seems I've become a Journal Junkie overnight and I have a sneaky suspicion this will be first of many.
I've made a start on decorating the cover but it still needs a fastener and some additional bits and pieces...
And just when I thought I would have to make a quick trip to town to stock up on elastic...I found a whole roll of elasticated cord in the "surplus to requirements" box in the garage......what a stroke of luck...OK wrong colour but easily remedied with my Faber Castell Pitt Pen.

I'm now in the process of making the signatures...
lots of journaling panels from my bumper pack of original "also surplus to requirements now that I've discovered Media Heavystock" Manila Tags...
and pockets to hold them and other bits and pieces...
and after two days of thunder. lightning and torrential rain...it was so good to sit out in the morning sunshine with a cuppa...a needle and Eclectic Elements thread for an alfresco stitching session...it's a hard life but someone's gotta do it...
There's still a way to go to complete MY FIRST JUNK JOURNAL but hopefully I'll be back to share it with you all soon. In the meantime...toodle-oo for now and enjoy your weekend.

it's that Sepia look again...

Hi folks...I couldn't resist just one more play with the Antique Linen/Frayed Burlap/Black Soot combination of Distress Oxide inks and that gorgeous Bouquet Of Thanks stamp set from Simon Says Stamp to make a fairly simple card...
well that was the theory but in practice it turned a bit more complicated than I first thought. After I created the Distress Oxide background I stamped the image around the edges of the card for placement and then stamped multiply times on to Distress Watercolor card which involved a major die-cutting session followed by a marathon water colouring adventure. I fixed the die-cuts flat over the stamped images but on reflection I should have popped some of them up on 3D foam pads to create dimension but no way was I starting over...
I finished off by stamping the sentiments from the Bouquet Of Thanks stamp set with Black Soot Distress Oxide (twice with the Stamp Platform to get a really dark impression) and I know I've said it before but I'm shouting from the rooftops again...I love love love how well Distress Oxides stamp even when using a fine script sentiment.
Yesterday's road trip was put on hold thanks to thunderstorms and flooding in my little corner of the world so I headed back to the cubbyhole and finally got round to unpacking and die-cutting this little beauty...
to make what I'm sure will be the first of many Eileen Hull Junk Journals.  Sadly demand for this amazing die has outstripped supply...it's as scarce as hen's teeth apparently but a little birdie tells me it is still available at Simon Says Stamp and I have added the link to the products list below.
Have a great weekend whatever you have planned and I'll see you all on Monday.

#Hip For Summer

Hi folks...I'm skidding in by the seat of my pants with another Hipster card for the Tim Holtz/Sizzix "Get Hip For Summer" Challenge which I believe ends tomorrow...
better late than never as they say and if you haven't joined in the fun yet...better get a move on.
and
it's Geoffrey The Grey Goat this time...
No prizes for guessing I'm now seriously addicted to the Antique Linen/Frayed Burlap/Black Soot combination of Distress Oxides...

but bear with me for a little bit longer...I'll be back tomorrow with another Sepia card and then I promise to move on...after all there are a whole 9 other colours in the new release to explore...so watch this space.
Toodle-oo for now

Thank You...Thank You...Thank You

Hi Everyone...I've always loved sepia look cards but up until now have struggled to achieve a look I was happy with so it's Thank You many times over to Tim Holtz and Ranger for bringing us Distress Oxide inks and for including Antique Linen/Frayed Burlap and Black Soot in the latest release of colours...who knew those three cubes of magic could look so good together and create the perfect sepia look using the gorgeous Bouquet of Flowers image from the latest Simon Says Stamp release...One Of A Kind.

with a flick or two of Distress Antiqued Bronze Mica Spray to create a little bit of shimmer...
After working through the weekend to clear the decks and get the crafty list up-to-date I called the jury attendance line last night to be told I'm no longer required which means...woohoo I'm footloose and fancy free for the rest of the week...a road trip and a couple of lady who lunches days out are now on the cards and I'll be back tomorrow to share another Hipster card with you...in the meantime have fun whatever you have planned.
Toodle-oo for now
