Flora and Fauna...

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's Red White And/Or Blue challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
FLORA AND FAUNA
Definition: Flora is plant life; fauna refers to animals. The handiest way to remember flora and fauna is that “flora” sounds like flowers which are part of the plant world and fauna sounds like “fawn” and fawns are part of the animal kingdom.
And I should have paid more attention to the definition before rushing in because there are no animals or insects on my project...I'm going for poetic licence on this one...let's just imagine they've taken themselves off to another part of my garden.
I created a canvas for my Tim Holtz Adjustable Easel using some of my favourite Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz stamps and indulged my new found passion for those little bottles of magic aka Infusions from PaperArtsy...

but got way ahead of myself before I remembered to take step-by-step photos. I started off by applying Idea-ology Melange Tissue Wrap to my canvas with Distress Collage Medium Matte. I then sprinkled on Limoncello and Blue Blood Infusions and spritzed generously with water letting the colour run around the canvas and blend before patting it lightly with a paper towel to pick up the excess.
I inked one of the flower images from Tim Holtz Wildflowers Stamp Set with Archival Black Ink and stamped second generation on the background. I then stamped the gorgeous Big Fabric stamp from Spellbinders/Tammy Tutterow on the bottom section and highlighted around the stamped flowers and portions of the fabric stamped image with a Signo Uniball White Pen.
I applied Idea-ology Tissue Tape and used the Dots Stencil from Mini Layering Stencil Set 9 with White Gesso...dabbing it on with a piece of Ranger Cut 'N Dry Foam...
I stamped my favourite flower from Tim Holtz Flower Garden on to Ranger Watercolor Paper...sprinkled a little Infusion Limoncello on to my non stick craft mat and coloured using the Detailer Water Brush...fussy cut and fixed to the canvas.
now comes the bit that we all dread...stamping on to a textured surface but there is a solution...I stamped the sentiment from Tim Holtz Ponderings on to Plain Tissue Wrap with Black Archival Ink...heated it to make sure it was dry...
cut out the individual words and applied to the canvas using Distress Collage Medium Matte and hey presto...as if by magic...the edges disappear and you have a perfectly stamped sentiment everytime...cool huh. I highlighted the letters with the Signo Uniball White Pen...
added some zig zag stitching...
and finished off the edges with the Black Soot Paint Dabber.
